Science Fair

Students in grades 5-8 are required to complete a science project for the fair. Class time is used to explore ideas and choose a project. The majority of the work is then done at home. Steps in working on this project may include building a model, conducting research and conducting experiments. Students conclude with recording their findings, writing about procedures and creating a display that explains his or her project.

Students in the lower elementary grades complete classroom projects with different students working on different components of the main project.

Last year's Science Fair was a late winter highlight for DCS students. Judges evaluated student projects during the afternoon, and scores of visitors came to see their exhibits and ask questions during the evening open house. They learned some amazing, and some merely interesting, facts about the great world that God created and how it operates.
